No, you can wait until your renewal to send a copy of your new liability policy.

What are the fees & requirements for a contractor's inactive status?

You can be on inactive status for 3 years. You must continue to take your continuing education classes per year. The inactive fee per year is $100.00

If you have missed a continuing education class, and your license is to be renewed before the next class, what can you do?

You have a 60 day grace period, to get your continuing education classes, but when you renew you must include a $50.00 late fee.

If I do not receive a renewal notice, do I still have to pay the late fee, if I didn't realize my license expired?

Yes, it is your responsibility to renew your license prior to your expiration date, if you receive your notice or not.

If I do not receive a renewal form, what do I send with my information to the State?

You can either download the original application form from the State web site or you can put your information such as: name, address, phone, ME#, CE#, and birthdate on a separate sheet of paper and mail it with your renewal information.

I have been told at every meeting to send anything to the State by certified mail. Why?

Because this is proof that someone at the State Department has signed and received your information. Also, if the licensing department is behind on their mail and you have the date on which your information was received, they can not charge you a late fee, if you have mailed it prior to your expiration date.

Who do I make the check/money order payable to for license renewal?

Kentucky State Treasurer
If you make it payable to the Office of Housing, Buildings, and Codes, there will be a delay in processing.
